after reading the other horrible reviews(after i ordered) i was pleasantly surprised :) I used an audio splitter to plug in my standand ipod (it wont fit on the dock) plopped four AA batteries in and away i went, the sound quality is decent, its cute, and if i really want the AC/DC 6 volt adapter i know i can pick on up at my local thrift store for a dollar. It works much better than the no power stand alone speakers, and I love the retro design :)and actually, it makes it perfect for working in the garden or taking to the beach since I don't have to plug it in!
